The STL Building Trades Wellness Coalition is proud to offer scholarship opportunities to support education and training in peer support, mental health awareness, substance misuse, and suicide crisis prevention/ intervention/ postvention. Through this scholarship program, the Coalition aims to expand knowledge, reduce stigma, and strengthen support resources throughout our workplaces and communities.
Eligibility: Scholarships are open to anyone involved with the St. Louis Building Trades Wellness Coalition through an individual, company, or organizational affiliation.
Scholarship Award: Five (5) scholarships in the amount of up to $1,000 each will be awarded to help offset the cost of training, tuition, and lost wages associated with obtaining Certified Peer Specialist certification or LAP training.
Application Requirements: Applicants must submit a 3-5 paragraph essay describing how the scholarship would help further their education in peer support, mental health, substance misuse, or suicide crisis prevention/ intervention/ postvention, and how they believe the training will positively impact their workplace, organization, or community.
The applicant should supply one letter from their company, organization, or union supporting them in their efforts to become a Certified Peer Specialist or any other aforementioned certification.

Application Timeline: Applications open June 15, 2026 and close July 31, 2026. Scholarship recipients will be announce at the Coalition's October Quarterly Meeting on Oct 9.
Use of Funds: Scholarship funds must be used within six (6) months of the award date. Any unused funds after that timeframe must be returned to the St. Louis Building Trades Wellness Coalition.
Recipient Commitment: Scholarship recipients agree to attend no less than 6 of the St. Louis Building Trade Wellness Coalition's peer support meetings, attend quarterly coalition meetings, or associated trainings for a minimum of one (1) year following the award.
Follow-Up Reporting: Recipients will provide a brief report to the Coalition at six (6) months and one (1) year outlining how the scholarship wupported their training and the impact their work has had in their workplace and/or community.
