Worker Wellness Blog thru May 10, 2026

This week’s edition of our Worker Wellness blog takes a look at the concept of ‘moral injury’ in the workplace—to how one state is proposing that high school coaches address Mental Health—to the impact of gambling in the construction industry Down Under.

Focal Point: May is Mental Health Awareness Month. To this end, I have included a number of articles addressing MH in schools, law enforcement, and the workplace. On another note, please consider joining us at the NAMI-STL annual Walk for Mental Health this Saturday.

One of those aforementioned articles speaks to the concerning issue of how 1 in 3 ‘working-age’ men in the USA are not working or not seeking work. On the surface, experts suggest that this may potentially dampen future US consumer spending, tax revenue, and economic growth. More importantly, the authors indicate that the reason is more about disconnection than lack of job opportunities. From a MH standpoint, disconnection is related to loneliness which plays a key role in one’s well-being. Therefore, I encourage you to open the link below for a deeper dive.
